Where it all began.

Aftershock Theatre was born in 2016 as a reaction to the current state of the arts and culture landscape in Pittsburgh. Drawing from their research at Carnegie Mellon, the Aftershock team identified the need for high quality art that is relevant, accessible, and affordable to the growing population of Millennials and GenXers.

Looking to create an environment that stimulates both innovative art and a healthy discourse amongst participants, Aftershock acquired the Slovenian Auditorium building in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh to bring about its mission. Renovations are underway, but support is crucial! You can be part of Aftershock’s history by participating in the renovation project.

The Slovenian Auditorium was built at the beginning of the 20th century and served as a community theatre and space for many decades, but had remained vacant for some time. Aftershock will shine new energy into the building by creating a performance space that is conducive for experimental and fresh art and a community space that is versatile and welcoming.

Though Aftershock Theatre is only in the first stage if its history, it is ready to make its mark and create innovative art for Pittsburgh!
